Birdville ISD campuses showed significant academic progress in the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) 2026 accountability ratings, with 21 campuses earning an A or B rating and several schools achieving double-digit year-over-year gains. Additionally, 22 campuses also earned at least one TEA Distinction Designation, recognizing achievement in specific areas, while four campuses – Smithfield Middle School, Snow Heights Elementary, Foster Village Elementary and Green Valley Elementary – earned all distinction designations for which they are eligible.

“These results reflect the work and commitment of an entire community that believes in our students and our schools,” said Dr. Gayle Stinson, Birdville ISD Superintendent. “Every point of growth represents a student who kept going, a teacher who found a way to reach them, and a staff member who helped create the support they needed to succeed.”

The biggest areas of improvement across the district came in academic growth in reading and math. Overall, 13 campuses with comparable year-over-year ratings improved their scores, with six improving by at least one letter grade.

West Birdville Elementary posted the district’s largest year-over-year gain, increasing 29 points to earn a high B rating. Cheney Hills Elementary also made a significant jump, increasing 21 points, while Haltom Middle School increased 12 points – also earning solid B ratings for both campuses. The Collegiate Academy of Birdville, which does not have a prior-year rating for comparison, earned an A in its first year receiving an accountability rating.

Results on the spring End-of-Course exams across the district also showed strong performance compared to regional and state averages, with Birdville ISD students meeting and exceeding the state and region in all assessments (5/5) at the Meets and Masters performance levels.

“We are so proud of the progress happening across Birdville ISD every day and of the students, teachers, campus leaders and staff who continue to show up for one another,” Stinson added. “There is always work ahead of us, but we remain committed to creating the spaces, opportunities and support that every student needs to grow and know they belong here.”

The district will continue to build on this year’s academic progress by strengthening math outcomes and providing targeted support to student groups where additional growth is needed. Under the state’s current formula for calculating ratings, BISD remained at an overall C rating for the district, finishing less than 1/10 of one percentage point from a B rating. 

The 2026 Accountability ratings are assigned by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) using multiple measures of student performance and district and campus outcomes, including Spring 2026 STAAR and End-of-Course exams. The TEA’s overall accountability scores are determined using three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps. Ratings are preliminary until the appeal window closes and scores are finalized in December.
