Birdville ISD Board Approves Mullendore Elementary STEM Academy
(February 27, 2025)
The Birdville Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved Mullendore Elementary as a Preparatory STEM Academy, reinforcing the district’s commitment to fostering student interest and achievement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The board also approved a standardized dress code for the campus to enhance the learning environment and support student success.
Mullendore Elementary Preparatory STEM Academy
Mullendore Elementary will create an engaging learning environment designed to spark students' curiosity and passion for STEM subjects. This initiative provides a structured pathway for students to develop STEM fluency and career awareness from elementary school through high school and beyond.
Students attending Mullendore Elementary will transition to North Richland Middle School, a designated School of Specialization in STEM.
The school’s curriculum will be aligned to prepare students for STEM pathways in high school, college and future careers.
As a Preparatory STEM Academy, Mullendore Elementary will empower students to meet the Portrait of a Graduate expectations by:
engaging in real-world, project-based learning;
developing an awareness of and responsibility for environmental stewardship;
collaborating with school and community stakeholders;
partnering with high school mentors from the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning, and
facilitating a seamless transition to middle school and a College, Career and Military Readiness pathway through STEM-focused coursework.
Standardized Dress Code Implementation
The Board approved a standardized dress code for the school that will enhance the learning environment and reinforce the Academy’s focus on STEM education.
The recommended dress code includes jeans or khakis (long or short) or the option of a skirt for girls, and a solid color white, green, or black collared shirt for both boys and girls.
A campus clothes closet will be available to assist students in need of appropriate attire.
Campus administration will collaborate with local partners to secure funding and provide clothing assistance for disadvantaged students.
The Birdville ISD Board of Trustees believes these initiatives will create a dynamic and focused educational environment that prepares students for success in STEM-related fields while fostering a sense of community and inclusivity.
